Cardiac Rehab Buddy

The role of the cardiac rehab buddy is to encourage and support adults in Bolton who are engaging in a cardiac rehab physical activity scheme.  These patients will be recovering from a cardiac event such as a heart attack, angina diagnosis, valve surgery and coronary artery bypass surgery.

As a cardiac buddy you will assist our rehab instructor in the activity sessions by talking to the patients about how they are recovering, chatting 1:1 with a patient or helping across a whole group.  You will offer encouragement and help the patient become confident in their steps to a more active lifestyle.  You will need to be passionate about physical activity, lead a healthy lifestyle, be friendly, enthusiastic, supportive and have good communication skills.

Before you start you will be offered a one off 1:1 training session with our cardiac rehab coordinator and then 1:1 supervision throughout each volunteer session you attend.  No knowledge of heart conditions, medical terms or cardiac rehab is necessary.

If you require more information please contact our cardiac rehab coordinator Vicky on (01204) 331174 or vicky.wood@bolton.gov.uk
