Anna Roberts

Get Active Co-ordinator

I have been working for the Get Active team since April 2007, and was involved in setting up the programme from scratch. It has been a great pleasure to see how the Programme has evolved over the last 10 years. After completing a BA Hons Degree in Social Work Studies I went onto become a Recruitment Consultant and then an Advice & Guidance Officer within a Community Setting. I love working with people and have always been passionate about Physical Activity so it’s a great opportunity to be able to lead on the Get Active Programme and work with a fantastic team!

Interesting Fact:
I won the under 16’s, Double’s & Teams Disco Dancing Championships at the Blackpool Tower Bolton in 1996 and I jumped out of a plane in Australia!!

Excuses for not being active:
‘Sometimes I just don’t have the motivation’ or ‘I’m tired after a long day at work’.

How do I do it?
I try and plan my week in advance, so will allocate certain days and times for exercise. I mainly tend to swim, run and cycle but I do like to vary the types of exercise I do, so I sometimes try and attend a class such as Pilates or Zumba. I enjoy socialising with friends so arrange to exercise with them which motivates me and makes it more fun, particularly when it involves a dance floor! My most recent challenge involves cycling from London to Paris so I try and get out on my bike as much as I can at weekends. I do feel more motivated when I have something to work towards and it is such a great sense of achievement when you have completed it.   Back to Meet the Team
